The Dragon Ball anime series and movies were all either based on or inspired by the works of Toriyama Akira‘s Dragon Ball manga which was first published by Shounen Jump (weekly) in 1984.

Toei Animation have announced that the work on the new Dragon Ball TV anime has already begun. The new anime was given the title “Dragon Ball Chou” which means in English “Dragon Ball Super”. In regards to this name; Goku’s voice actress –Nozawa Masako– noted that this word “Chou” is a convenient title as it’s usually used a lot during Dragon Ball commercials, video games and other related media. Nozawa-san also disclosed her hopes about the new series wishing that it will run for a long time and impact the world as much as its predecessors’ have.

The events of Dragon Ball Super will be set a few years after the epic battle between Son Goku and Majin Buu and it’s been mentioned that Toriyama-sensei will be handling the story of Dragon Ball Super himself. Also, all Dragon Ball fans will not have to wait for long because this anime will air on Fuji Television and other channels on Sundays this summer on July at 9:00 AM.

Osamu Nozaki -Fuji TV producer- mentioned that he’s overjoyed with the plot of the new anime, he believes that it will satisfy Dragon Ball’s huge fanbase and may even draw a new generation of fans.

Also, Atsushi Kido -Toei Animation producer- have spoken fondly of his experience during his work on Dragon Ball Z series and he noted that he’s looking forward to carrying out the great legacy of Dragon Ball; determined to bring the new series with the same old commitment and heart.

To all Dragon Ball fans, rejoice for the legend is returning soon. I’m sure you’re all just as exited about this as I am and I truly believe the new series will be just as brilliant as the previous works.
