Hey Nana, do you remember the first time we met? I beleive in things like fate. So I think it was fate.

This was the first sentence in the first episode of this epic anime. It grabbed my attention from the very beginning; making me wonder why is that girl remembering something so nostalgically. And, is she really talking to Nana or is she making an imaginary conversation in her head remembering that “Nana” whoever she may be.

So many thoughts have come to my head once that first sentence was said.

This anime has a story that is deep, beautiful, sad, intriguing, and even funny. This story is about friendship, music, love, betrayal, and life.

The story is about two girls of the same age who rode on the same train at the same time and just happen to have the same first name “Nana“. Is it really fate? or is it just one big coincidence?

Now, tell me this isn’t intriguing !! I know it’s very interesting.

The beautiful thing about this anime is how it made me wonder all the time “where are they now?” because there’s always one of those two Nanas that is talking to the other Nana in her imagination. It’s amazing how two strangers from two different backgrounds with different interests and dreams can be so attached to each other after one simple encounter. They kept running into each other as if the universe wanted these two young women to become best friends.

As the story goes on we realize that they must not be together anymore but we can’t really be certain about it. However, everything they are going through makes it almost impossible to imagine that they are still together in that old tiny apartment sipping coffee or smoking and laughing happily with each other as they always do.. or did.

But, I still have hope that they are. I still have hope that their amazing and complicated relationship isn’t over yet. IT’s too beautiful to be over.

Komatsu Nana moves to Tokyo, following after her boyfriend Shouji to gain a life she has always dreamed of. On a train bound for Tokyo, she meets Osaki Nana, the vocalist for the punk rock band “Blast,” also moving to Tokyo to achieve her dreams of becoming a professional. Sharing the same name, the two of them perhaps through a twist of fate, ended up becoming flat mates in Tokyo, where together they support each other through each of their love lives and careers.

Unfortunately, the anime ended without finishing the story but the manga is just as beautiful. No, actually the Manga maybe even more beautiful than the anime because the artwork is just magnificent. The Manga is not over yet and it’s quite unfortunate that it’s currently on hiatus because the Mangaka is ill. I truly hope she will finish this magnificent story.

The OSTs, music, seiyuus (voice actors), the characters, the conversations, and the story are all amazing.

My Otaku Reviews rating for this anime is: 10/10

I really hope you will give it a chance and watch the whole anime because I believe it’s a masterpiece.
